Do you desire a contemporary home with an airy, inviting, and crisp brown-and-white color scheme? Ask a child to draw a neighborhood, and they’ll likely offer an image of a squares with a triangles on top, not doodles of round houses. Though walls with right angles and pitched roofs may be the most common archetype when it comes to residences, circular homes are arguably more interesting, simply because of how unique they are. Round design stretches back centuries—think igloos, teepees, and yurts—and the designs of many historic cultures are often based on circular forms. The designers worked with a color palette of Dunn-Edwards paints, and several chose to highlight the brand’s 2024 Color of the Year, a steely blue called Skipping Stones.

Many children entering the foster care system in the state are sleeping in DCBS offices and other government buildings waiting for placement. Group homes have also been the site of substandard care and scandalous abuse over the years.

The strategic plan is designed to address the unprecedented transformation that is occurring in how treatment programs will be accredited and how outcomes will be measured. Building upon Eggleston’s legacy of inclusiveness by welcoming all ethnicities, genders and gender identifications, the agency will shift additional resources to trauma informed care. The range of services offered in our continuum of care enables us to meet the challenges of promoting safety, stability and well-being for children, youth and families. Additional resources will focus on increasing the number of licensed therapists, reduce the ratio of child care staff to youth, increase trauma-informed trainings; and making existing treatment facilities more home-like.
